The Hilux N80 is the ute we get asked about more than any other — which makes sense, since it's been Australia's best-selling vehicle for most of the years it's been on sale. It's also the one where "does this fit my Hilux" comes up the most, because the N80 spans a pre-facelift body (2015–2020) and a facelifted Rocco/Revo-style rear end (2020–2024), and the two don't share tail lights. Get that wrong and you've got a light that bolts up but doesn't sit flush, or worse, doesn't plug into the factory harness properly.
Here's how to tell which one you've got, and which style of replacement actually makes sense for what you're trying to achieve.
Step 1: Work out which N80 you actually have
- Pre-facelift N80 (2015–2020): the original N80 shape — SR, SR5, and Workmate variants before the 2020 update.
- Facelift N80 / "Rocco" style rear (2020–2024): the updated tail light shape that came in with the Rocco and carried across the range from 2020 onward.
If you're not sure which one you're looking at, the fastest way to check is the shape of the tail light lens itself — it's a different casting between the two — or give us your rego/VIN on a call before you order. That's exactly what our Fitment First check exists for: catching this kind of mismatch before anything ships, not after.
Step 2: Decide what you actually want — restore or upgrade
If you want it to look factory again: OEM-style replacement
These are built to match the original tail light — same shape, same lighting layout, designed to bolt straight back in with no wiring changes. Good options if a lens has cracked, yellowed, or you're just after a clean like-new look without changing the vehicle's appearance:
- OEM Style Tail Lights – Hilux N80 Pre-Facelift (2015–2020) — from $209 (LH/RH individually) or $219 for the pair
- LED Tail Lights – Hilux N80 (2015–2020), OEM-style — $459 for the pair, same factory look with LED internals for a brighter, faster-reacting brake light
If you're after a visual upgrade: aftermarket-style smoked/sequential
These change the look — smoked lenses, sequential (wipe-style) indicators, 3D light bars — while still being a direct-fit replacement for your specific N80 body style. This is where most of the "before/after" transformation photos people search for actually come from:
- Sequential Smoked C-Style LED Tail Lights – N80 (2015–2024) — $489, spans both pre- and post-facelift years
- Smoked Black 3D Stripe Bar LED Tail Lights – N80/Revo Rocco (2015–2024) — $529
- Smoked Red 3D LED Tail Lights – N80 (2015–2020) — $459, pre-facelift specific
- Black Full LED Tail Lights with Red Stripes – N80/Revo Rocco (2015–2024) — $709, the boldest look in the N80 range
A quick note on smoked lenses and compliance
A smoked lens still needs to register as red when the brake or tail light is lit, and the indicator still needs to read amber (or run a compliant sequential amber pattern) — smoked doesn't mean "dark all the time," it means a tinted lens over a light that's still built to the correct output and colour once switched on. All of the options above are designed as complete lens-and-light assemblies rather than an aftermarket tint film over a factory lens, which is the version of "smoked" that tends to cause compliance headaches.

Older Hilux? We've got you too
If you're actually on an older tray-back, N70, or N60 Hilux rather than the N80, the same OEM-style vs smoked/sequential logic applies — just check the year range on the listing carefully, since N70 (2005–2015) and N60 (1997–2004) tail lights are shaped differently again and aren't interchangeable with N80 parts.
